Why Does Image Quality Drop When You Convert to PDF?
You send a PDF to someone and the photo that looked sharp on your phone now looks soft. It happens to almost everyone, and there are three usual reasons.
First, many converters shrink the picture to keep the file small. They cut the pixel count or squeeze the JPG harder, and that lost detail never comes back. Second, some tools save the image again and again. Every extra save of a JPG throws away a little more information. Third, a few tools push a large photo onto a small fixed page, so it gets scaled down badly.
Free tools often do this on purpose, because smaller files cost them less bandwidth. The complaint I hear most from people who use PDF tools is not about speed. It is about a blurry receipt, a fuzzy ID copy or a soft class note. This converter keeps the full pixel size of your picture and only wraps it in a PDF page. PNG files are stored without any loss. JPG and WebP files are saved at the maximum quality setting.
How to Convert Image to PDF Without Losing Quality on Mobile
You do not need an app. This works in Chrome or Safari on any Android phone or iPhone, and it works the same on a laptop. I use it on my own phone when I need to turn photos of documents into one file for email.
Before you start, take your photo in good light and hold the phone straight above the page. A clear original gives a clear PDF. The tool cannot add detail that the picture does not have, but it will not take any away either.
- Add your images. Tap the box above and choose photos from your gallery or camera. You can pick many at once.
- Set the order and page size. Use the Up and Down buttons to arrange the pages. Leave the page size on Fit to image for the sharpest result, or choose A4 if you plan to print.
- Tap Create PDF. Your file downloads straight away. Look in your Downloads folder or the Files app.
If you add a lot of large photos, do it in smaller groups so your phone does not slow down.

JPG vs PNG: Which Gives Better Quality in PDF?
It depends on what is in your picture. A JPG is a compressed format. It is great for photos, because it keeps file size low and the loss is hard to see. But it is not perfect, and each time a JPG is edited and saved, a little detail goes.
A PNG is lossless. Nothing is thrown away, so text, logos, screenshots and sharp lines stay crisp. The price is a bigger file. A PNG of a photo can be several times larger than the same photo as a JPG.
My simple rule: use PNG for screenshots, scanned text and anything with thin lines. Use JPG for normal camera photos. If you already have a JPG, do not convert it to PNG first. That will not bring back lost detail, it will only make the file bigger. Add the original JPG here and the quality stays where it was.
If your final PDF is too heavy to email, shrink the pictures first with the Image Compressor, then convert them. Need to join the result with other files? Use Merge PDF, or read how to merge PDF without losing quality.
FAQs
Does converting image to pdf lose quality?
Not with this tool. PNG images are stored without loss, and JPG and WebP images are saved at maximum quality at their full pixel size. Quality only drops when a tool shrinks the picture or compresses it hard, and we do neither.
How to keep image quality in pdf?
Start with a sharp original, choose Fit to image as the page size, and avoid compressing the picture before you convert. If you need a smaller file, compress at the end, not the start.
Is this tool free with no watermark?
Yes. It is free, needs no account and adds no watermark or logo to your PDF.
Can I convert multiple images?
Yes. Add as many images as your device can handle. Each image becomes one page, in the order shown on screen.
Are my images safe?
Your images are converted inside your browser and are not sent to our servers. The page loads an open-source PDF library from a public content delivery network, which is the only outside request.
